I have Maximizer 7 running on a terminal server (yes I know it is probably time to upgrade), and have hit a problem with the Pervasive Database engine. I have the engine starting up at login (from the startup folder), but for users (other than the Administrator) I get a 3012 error code "Local engine is not accessible to the MicroKernel router" - if I click OK, I then get the usual Maximizer login window, then another error: Pervasive ODBC Engine DSN Setup "Cannot connect to Pervasive.SQL 2000 server or Pervasive Worstation Engine. Make sure either the Pervasive.SQL Server is started or Pervasive.SQL 2000 Workstation Engine is enabled." If I click 'OK' to this error Maximizer then runs normally!

I have 5 uers who can access this Terminal server - could it be related to multiple attempts of starting the database engine upon each user logging in? Should I have a login and logout script for each user that controls the pervasive engine?

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue running a plain-vanilla Dell XP desktop system. I asked Maximizer, and they said it was a known bug in that version and just ignore the messages. I don't recall the details, but Max 7 would be about right.

I would definitely not write scripts that mess with Pervasive...that seems like asking for trouble. That time would be better spent upgrading to a modern version of Maximizer.
