I want to record a Maximizer macro which integrates with a MS Word template. At the press of a tool bar button, I want the macro to be able to go to the MS Word template in file/new, and open up the template. Can this be done?

You can load a Word Template without have to create a macro. Right Click the Maximizer toolbar and select Customize. Click Add in the Toolbars windows - this will open up a new window titled Customize Toolbar. Click the Add button. Yet another window will open titled Add Toolbar Button. Select Open a document or application. In the Document/Application input field enter your path to Word followed by a space and then the path to your template. Remember the quotes - something like this.
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\WINWORD.EXE" "C:\My Documents\My Template.dot" Finish off the rest of the selections and your done. Now when you click your newly created Maximizer Toolbar button your Word template will load. Iris |

Dear Iris,
Thank you for your suggestion on this. I have followed your suggestions but haven't been able to get the button to open the template. All that I have been able to do is to get it to open up word. Here is the path that I have placed in the Document/Application window: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\WINWORD.exe" "C:\Documents and Settings\pc15\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates\Psytech Outsourcing Proposal.dot" Can you see any reason why this would not be working? Dear Iris,
I have managed to make this work now thanks but have a couple of other questions for you, if you would be so kind. 1. When the template opens, it opens as a template, not as a word document, and I am unable to save it as a word document. 2. Do you know how to unlink the fields within the document, so that when I reopen it, it does not automatically update to the selected contact? Thank you for your help. Regards, Ben |

Ben,
Q1: Try prefacing the path to your template with the switch "/lC:\Documents...." That the letter "L" Q2: When you select the Maximizer fields make sure the box for Link is unchecked or alternatively through Word > View > Links and highlight the links you want to break. iris |

Hi Iris,
Q1: I tried this but it just opens a blank document instead. Any other suggestions? Thanks. Ben |

Breader,
As you can see you were able to launch Word and have it load a document/template. So, that part of Maximizer you've figured out. Now, you just need to figure out which "Word" switch you need. The switches have nothing to do with Maximizer. Iris |
