We have Maximizer 8 and was wondering if anyone knows how to backup to a CD. Currently we do a transfer to our home email as a backup and thank goodness we did as we had our computers stolen from the office. Unfortunately it didn't back up columns, documents, etc. Looking for a way to do a COMPLETE BACKUP

Thanks Gord - that was great except it only addressed the versions prior to version 8. But again, thanks for the suggestion.

No, it talks about version 8 too:

Another way is to copy the entire contents of the Company folder to a CD. For instance, if your data is organized into AddressBooks\Company1 and AddressBooks\Company2, copying the contents of each Company folder to a CD (in its own unique folder of course) will save all the data for that Company. The only slight drawback is you have to go through Max and use File > New Address Book to retain access to the data if you restore it - but it's pretty quick and all your users, security, etc. will still be there.

To keep the restore really simply you could also do a backup to CD of the folder AddressBooks and all sub-olders to capture the data for all Companies at once, along with the folder structure.

The technique above is what we use for backups.

Of course, using the Max backup cleans up indexes and pointers as well as doing the phsical file copying.

Hi Cindia,
besides using Maximizers backup tool, you can automate the backup process so that it runs e.g. once a day. See my earlier post at:
Backup
We use DVD-RAM as our backup storage, which is much more reliable than cd-r or dvd-r. The advantage is also that you don't need a special burning program or backup program supporting cd-r. You just write to DVD-RAM like any hard disk folder.
