Howdy from Texas! ... I realize the 1st problem with this setup is that it's a "home" OS which does not support DOMAINS. Our server is running Win Server 2003 SBS. ..but I really want to believe this will work.

Has anyone gotten Max 10 to work with Vista HOME? Or do you all your Vista clients use the Biz or Ultimate version?

During the Max CRM 10 GROUP install, I'm getting stuck at the SQL Server Name prompt. It finds the server/instance, but when I try to connect it hangs on "Verifying connection to SQL Server. Please wait..." for about 60 seconds, then concludes:
"Login failed. Please make sure you entered the correct SQL server name and also use the right credential to connect to the SQL server."

I found this MaxTalk Thread which got me to install the SQL Mgr separate. With that, I am able to connect just FINE to our server/instance, which is what's really making me think this can work.

I can also setup and connect via an ODBC Datasource. I'm guessing Max install is only using "username" instead of "domain\username".

Right now, I'm being tempted to install the Max Server on this little client just so I can get Max 10 installed, but fear there's a good chance that still won't work...

...but before I do that, I wanted to see if I could get some advice from anyone here.

Thanks!

Cory

Max.Com - Vista Supported

reports Vista home is supported...BUT has this to add:

Windows Vista Home Basic/Premium are not supported in a networked environment

Sooo, my only option might be to upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate with a $159 price bump. Considering this whole computer was $300, that really distorts the value this little client is adding.

Thanks again,
Cory

I managed to make Max 10 CRM (Group) to work on Vista Home Premium. I had to 1st install Max SERVER on the Vista Home system, then had to do some REGEDIT adjustments on the registry. It works!

I plan to write up some details and make a blog post about it, but until then...if you have this problem, send me a note and I'll let you know the registry adjustments.
