We have a client that has a problem during certain Max Ent 5.5 series 1003 "drag and drop" routines. The enter result is a maxwin causes an IPF in maxwin.exe the another IPF occurs with maxwin causing an IPF in mxlib32.dll. We have updated the video drivers and then turned of the video acceleration. That did not work so we replaced the Trident video card with an ATI 4 MB 3D charger. We are still having a problem. The client is running a P133 with 64 MB RAM and Win 95B. Any ideas?

Are you dragging and dropping onto the hotlist icon by any chance?

The problem seems to effect only some machines and goes back (in my experience) to Enterprise 5. You seem to have tried all the right sort of things. I've discussed this one with Multiactive support in the past and all I can say is that I believe they are aware the problem can occur.

While Maximizer could handle things a little more cleanly, I rather think the problem is rooted in the Hardware/software on the PC as it does not seem to effect all users.

The last time I had a client with this problem I added a toolbar icon that short cut to the same thing as dragging to the toolbar. This at least gave a 100% reliable way of working.

If you know better I'd love to hear....

Hello there,

You are probably using a Microsoft mouse or a mouse that has too many function on it. I will suggest that you replace those drives with the standard windows mouse drive. Reboot the PC and try working in Max

I forgot,

Mxlib32 crashes on startup can be caused by Maximizer recording impossible graphics positions for some screen items in the registry (at least this is my interpretation of what's happening).

If this error happens every time you open Maximizer try clearing (ie deleting) all of the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Maximizer Technologies\Maximizer

Only do this if your are confident using the regedit registry editor. You will loose your Maximizer screen settings but it usually fixes the problem.

The only value you may need to save/restore when you do this is

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Maximizer Technologies\Maximizer\Directory
