Hello All!

We have a peer to peer maximizer database shared by 9 users.

We recently upgraded all users to maximizer 6.0 from Maximizer 3.0,

and successfully converted the database to version 6.0 (after days of troubleshooting).

But... once in a while (ie. all the time smile)
maximizer crashes with error code 3111 or 3112. When you click "OK" on error dialog box it display error code 2 and/or 3 then end up with error code 3006.

When this happens, all the users get locked up (all of them get error messages). We have to reboot all the machines otherwise no one can get in again.

I couldn't even find an entry for error codes 3111 & 3112 on maximizer support web site.

Maximizer files are located on a server running Ms exchange. we have 10 user license installed. all the users access Maximizer as "Master" user. (ie. no userlists, passwords/security)

please help frown

From the Pervasive.SQL_2000 documentation:

|3111: Failure during send to the target server.
|
|The Pervasive Network Services Layer attempted to send an application
|request to the target server and encountered a network specific error
|from the target. Check the Pervasive Event Log (PVSW.LOG) for more
|information.
|
|You can receive this error when the server's Btrieve Communication
|Manager or the MKDE Communication Manager’s Number of Sessions
|setting is too low. To resolve this, increase the Number of Sessions
|setting for these two components using the Setup utility. Refer to
|the Pervasive.SQL User’s Guide for more information on the Number of
|Sessions setting and the Configuration utility.
|
|3112: Failure during receive from the target server.
|
|The Pervasive Network Services Layer attempted to receive data from
|the target server and encountered a network specific error. Check the
|Pervasive Event Log (PVSW.LOG) for more information.

>how can I access this setup utility

Start > Programs > Pervasive > Pervasive Control Center

If you don't see it there, then Maximizer didn't install it for you. You can do it yourself by following the instructions they provide on their support site:

http://www.multiactive.com/support/support_index.html

Under the "FAQ by Product" choose "Maximizer, Max Ent", then look for the document called "Maximizer 6 Peer to Peer setup" and download "Pervasive 2000 Workgroup Setup.doc".

it seems like I have to install maximizer server version on the machine that hosts the
database.

I haven't done that... all I did was install
workstation version on client machines..

Is there anyway to access the database without installing maximizer on the machine that hosts the database ?

You can, although at least one machine must be designated as the workgroup "gateway" by running the Maximizer_6.0 setup program and choosing "Server" for the machine's role. Unlike Maximizer_5.0 and before, which used the Btrieve Workstation engine on each machine to access the database...

+---------+
User1----+ |
| Address |
User2----+ Book |
| Files |
User3----+ |
+---------+

...Maximizer_6.0 uses the Pervasive.SQL Workgroup engine. Individual machines send requests to the gateway machine, and that machine accesses the data files...

+---------+
User1----+ | |
| +---------+ | Address |
User2----+----+ Gateway +----+ Book |
| +---------+ | Files |
User3----+ | |
+---------+

The Address Book files need not reside on the gateway machine. They can be on a network share.

Thanks for your help Gord.

I guess not having a server was the problem..

I installed server version on host machine...
and we didn't get that error again..

but data retrieval in maximizer is very slow sometimes. probably because peer to peer
version of maximizer generate lot of network
traffic
