OK here is the problem:

We are running Maximizer Enterprise 5.5 (Btrieve version 07.51N) with Pervasive SQL 2000 and our database has reached 4GB. Now our users are receiving a Data Manager has returned an error code of 132, with a message of An unidentified error has occurred on the 'Letters file.'

I searched the KB on Maximizers site and got the following message.

Btrieve file has reached the maximum allowable size of 4 GB.

Maximizer only supports running on the Btrieve "0600" (Btrieve 6.x) file format and therefore is limited to a file size limit of 4 GB. Currently, the supported solution is to use Maximizers purge feature. To purge your documents, select Purge > Document from the Maximizer File menu.

The Development department understands that the 4 GB limit may be inconvenient for some customers. Converting from Btrieve 6.x to 7.x might seem like a simple solution, but the Development department first wants to ensure the Btrieve 7.x version is fully tested before Maximizer users are converted.

Maximizer Enterprise 7.0 will provide a SQL Server version that will support larger file
sizes.

However I am not running Btrieve 6.x I am running Btrieve 7.51N and since we use our notes and attached documents the idea of purging them is out of the question.

Boy do I need some help!

Thanks

As you noted, the Btrieve v7.x file format is not supported in v6.0 (and earlier) of the Maximizer product line. However, it is supported in the v7.0 family of Maximizer products.

After you've upgraded to 7.0 and applied all current service packs, you will need to do a Maximizer backup/restore to convert the files to Btrieve 7.x format. Of course, you will want to double-check the "Create File Version" setting of the applicable database engine before doing starting such a long process....
