G'day all - I'm trying to change to a new operating system from Win 2000 to Windows XP Pro with Max. 7. Everything seems to have worked alright except that now all of my scanned documents don't open. They give the error "OLE ITF returned an error code of 340. Current operation could not be completed."
I've tried changing the default program that Windows uses to open TIF files, but to no avail. Any suggestions? |

Try disable script blocking on your norton antivirus. I got some OLE problem with V8. This fix stop the problem. But I can't say you will be 100% protected agains script virus.
Running maximizer 9 since February 17, 2006, with QB link. |

XP uses the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer app to open TIF, TIFF images.
Try changing the default file association under Explorer to Microsoft Paint program. If you haven't tried this already that may likely be the problem. - Iris |

Hi Sean,
I am having a similar issue with OLE ITF 106 - I have found that if I right click on the doc in Max, & then save as, I can take to attachment out of Maximizer. It does not resolve why this happened - I am still trying to track this down - but at least you can eliminate Maximizer from this problem |

I'm having the same problem as the OP. "OLE ITF returned an error code of 340..." whenever I try and open embedded documents of either PDF or MAX type (MAX is the extension for PaperPort). I can open embedded XLS (Excel) files without a problem. I am only having this issue on one of many networked machines. All running Max 7, Pervasive SQL 2000i sp4, and Windows XP SP2.
I'm at my wits end with this one. Anyone have any insight? |

Good Afternoon,
There were a number of issues with Maximizer & Maximizer Enterprise versions 7 & 7.5 when it came to PDF and Paperport files, sometimes this would result in weird OLE errors. The recommendations we've had in the past have generally been "don't embed PDF files into Max 7/7.5". I would say right click and save them out of Maximizer then reattach them as linked files. |

Same situation in my case.
We have 4 computers with win2000 and only one with XP. All have the same Max 8, pervasive versions. All the computers with win2000 have no problem retrieving image documents inserted in Max. The computer with XP has the problem. But if the documents were inserted from this machine then they can be retrieved ok from this machine as well as from the others. Something must be happening with the XP OS. |
