Hello again,
We have Max5 installed on 5 machines sharing a database held on an NT server. One of our users keeps getting error 81. I've tried restoring the User file from a backup but this isn't solving it. Help! Simon Moth. |

Hi Simon!
This error can be a bit of a pain to get rid of. It usually goes away after a re-boot. It sometimes affects specific PC's even after you've done all the normal things so I think its often down to a file version/setting - but I've never really found the true cause on these persistent problem PC's. I suspect the answer in these cases is a PC build and clean install - but I've not tried this. Here's what you should check first. a) Make sure you are running Maximizer from a Local path (ie Maximizer is installed on the C drive) b) check the Btrieve Max Locks setting (in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ) is 220 and possibly try raising this to 320. if your using client server 6.15 make sure the server Record Locks per client matches. c) also check that your not still loading share.exe in you autoexec.bat/config.sys Hope this helps, Ian Wallace CABC, Newbury [This message has been edited by Ian Wallace (edited 21 June 2000).] |

Thanks Ian.
I've increased the locks to 320 and I'm touching wood with crossed fingers. Simon. |
