I have used Maximizer since 1997, still running an old version in the 4's on my personal computer but had been current at my last employer up until 2006. However, I have just ORDERED MAX 10 for personal/business use. I have not received the SW yet but have looked over the user guides. They seem a bit light in some areas, specifically User Defined Fields. I have a few quesitons:
1) When performing a two tier Import: (i) How can I determine the character size and or if alphanumeric for those fields to map to? (ii) Can I create Custom UDF's upfront within Max before I map or are they all hard coded (iii) What is meant in the Lead Handling box as as a Lead or Non or Non Lead. One must select before performing the import. 2) Company Profile: Does Max now have a field or way to store a large amount of text within the company record to create a company profile AND for it to be viewed when drilling down to the company level rather than having to hide it in the notes? 3) Related Entries: (i)Is this this true relational? i.e. If a company has an affiliation with say 10 other companies, once you link all 10 with the 1, can you hot key back and forth between the related accounts? (i) Anyway to to group linked entries? for example if I have 1 company that does work for 10 others, can I do a group link versus one at a time? This message has been edited. Hopefully some of these answers may help out a bit: How can I determine the character size and or if alphanumeric for those fields to map to? I'm not entirely sure that you can, there is no way in Maximizer to determine this during an import. When you create the fields in Maximizer you get to choose the type of field as you create it. Can I create Custom UDF's upfront within Max before I map or are they all hard coded Maximizers key selling point is the extreme flexibility of the UDF system, User Defined Fields can be created at any point before or after an import, however if you want to import data into them you must create them before the import. What is meant in the Lead Handling box as as a Lead or Non or Non Lead. One must select before performing the import It simply determines if the records are imported with the Sales Lead flag set to on or off. Company Profile: Does Max now have a field or way to store a large amount of text within the company record to create a company profile AND for it to be viewed when drilling down to the company level rather than having to hide it in the notes? You can import notes however in the Basic Maximizer import functionality the Notes importing and exporting is not especially great. When you create a relationship between records you can easily access those records through the relationships window, however beyond this its really quite basic functionality. Anyway to to group linked entries? for example if I have 1 company that does work for 10 others, can I do a group link versus one at a time? As far as I know there isn't any way to do this I'm afraid. |

Don't be surprised if you see quite a few more posts from me as I get geared up with my new system. I miss my MAX....but will soon have it up and running. |
