I am trying to send a campaign out which has over 9000 email addresses in it. When I ran it last night it had sent 1736 when it was suspended with the following error: Activity 'Dbase' suspended due to fatal error:
Email to 'email address' failed due to a Server error ' [Expecting Server response: 250] '

The CMGR-Email log reads as:

I also ran a campaign a couple of weeks ago and got this error message: Activity 'Email 270510 A' suspended due to fatal error:
Could not connect to SMTP Mail Server 'smtp server', port '25'.

I don’t have the CMGR log for this error.

I have run smaller campaigns of up to 4000 email addresses with out problem.

Can some on please tell me what this means and how to fix it.

Hi there.

My guess would be that you are trying to send too many e-mails in one go and the SMTP server either cannot cope or has a block on it to prevent exploitation by spammers.

I would suggest you enable the Batch Sending Mode. Start the Maximizer Administrator and log into the address book in question, click File>>Preferences and go to the Automated Services tab and enable batch sending.

From here you can set the server to send a certain number of e-mails every x time interval.

So for example, set the batch size to 200 and the interval to 5 minutes, that way it will send 200 e-mails every 5 minutes and will hopefully not overload the SMTP server.

Thank you for the response. I had the service cycle set to 50 every minute. I have no set it to 3 minutes and 90 mails. I will run another one tonight and let you know how it went.

Last nights run failed again with the same error. Is this a max error, server error or email hosting error?

Good Afternoon,

From the looks of the error you are getting it is a problem with the SMTP Server:

>Email to 'email address' failed due to a Server
>error ' [Expecting Server response: 250] '

This error is telling you that Maximizer has tried to contact the SMTP server but has received no response from the server within the allotted time-out period.

The second error you have in your post:

>Could not connect to SMTP Mail Server 'smtp
>server', port '25'.

Is telling you that the SMTP server you have specified either does not exist or is not accepting connections on the port you have specified.

I would suggest you talk to your mail server administrator and see if they can check the settings on the SMTP server and see if there is anything in it's logs that may help figure out what is happening.
