After a failed attempt to install and then patch/update Max 9 on a new Vista machine, I tried to totally uninstall and start over. However the uninstall info was missing and I had to uninstall manually. I believe all the files have removed as well as the registry keys listed in a Maximizer knowledge base article about uninstalling but a effort to reinstall aborts early with a message saying a newer version of Maximizer is already installed. Just what files or registry keys/values does the installation script check before issuing that pronouncement?

I have heard of similar problems being solved by using the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. See
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301 . |

Thanks for the link, that utility seems to have done enough to allow me to try again. Will know more later.
