I just started working with a client using Maximizer 6.0 in a network environment with all clients running Windows 2000 and the server (storing all Maximizer data, not executables) running Windows 2000 Server.

All but one of the client workstations is working fine. One of them is getting the "maxwin.exe has generated errors and will be closed down by windows." error when trying to start Maximizer.

I already turned off MaxAlarm, MaxFinder and OrderDesk (the latter by renaming the BPwindow directory). Still same issue. I am able to start and operate without any issues if I login to the client as the LOCAL client administrator. I confirmed that the shared volume on the server is shared with full access and the user is in the Administrator group on the client.

What am I missing?

Thanks,
Derrick

Have you made the user(s) in question members of the "Power Users" group on the workstation?

The user is part of the "Administrator" group on the client workstation. Based upon other posts, it seemed that this would be a superset of putting them in the Power User group, and it isn't working.

Just a little details than my prior post. Last week when I first visited this client on a different issue, any user on this particular Win2K station who would log into Maximizer would get the login prompt, enter username and password and then get returned to Windows without any errors. I then rename the BPWindow directory and removed MaxAlarm and MaxFinder from the startup folder. From that point everyone was able to login as themselves and run Maximizer without any errors. I also rebooted to make sure all changes had taken effect. It worked for about a day and a half. Then in the middle of the day, it just stopped working for all users except Administrator on that station.

Thanks,
Derrick

I verified that the user was in the "Power Users" group on the workstation and that the user can create/delete files on the shared drive on the server where the Maximizer files are located.

Just to recap, the client workstation is running Win2K with Maximizer 6.0. I have no issues if I login to Windows as Administrator, then into Maximizer as the user. I only have problems if I login to Windows as the user (the one in the Power User and Administrator groups) and try to run Maximizer. The error window comes up before I am even prompted for a Maximizer login window.

I did verify the registry entries for:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Pervasive Software
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MultiAtive Software
were enabled for full access for this user.

What am I missing?

Thanks,
Derrick
