Hi,
I am looking for search tips and shortcuts in maximizer. For example, I need to search a list o 4 Contacts so that I wan to enter the four name manually in the search field but i don't know how to do to obtain the result in the AB list. I know what is the character to use for an interval ".." . So do you know what is the character to use 'as OR or A or ...'to obtain a list of cantact entered manually? NB: Others Serach tips are welcome.... Regards, Ozzy |

Ozzy, I don't understand your question. Please try to write more clearly using fewer abbreviations and more examples.
If you want to do something like last name Smith or Jones, I don't know how to do it other than with Search/All Fields. Sometimes it's just easier to search for "Smith" and then search for "Jones" with "add to current list" selected. You are correct about using dot-dot to search a range, as in "Ro..Sm," which would retrieve all names that start with Ro, Rp, etc all the way to starting with Sm. Other special characters that work are the question mark which functions as exactly one wildcard, and the asterisk, which functions as a wildcard of any number of characters. So a search for last name "*sky" could generate an interesting dinner guest list such as: Chomsky, Noam Dostoevsky, Fyodor Lewinsky, Monica Yastrzemski, Carl |

Thanks Goblue.
For me and other users, it would easier to enter manually each contact by lastname than search and add one by one. So If I want to obtain a list that display Aanton, Berch and Guid, I would to enter it in the same filed separate by a character. is this character exist? Thanks, Ozzy |

OK. If there is a character like that, I don't know of it. I tried several characters and none worked.
But while it does sound kind of nice to have, and I am usually critical of the slowness of some Maximizer commands, I find that I can hit "alt s l" instantly. So "alt s l aanton, alt s l alt-a Berch, alt s l Guid" is acceptable for me. But I'm sorry that what you want doesn't seem to exist. |

Ozzy,
The best way to do something like this is to use the 'All Fields' search builder. Click Search>>All Fields, then under basic fields you can select 'Last Name' as the field. You can then enter each of the values you want to search for, clicking the 'Add' button after each one so they appear in the list on the right. Then make sure the option at the bottom left is set to return entries that match 'One or More' of the values. Click ok. You should then see in the main search screen something like "Last Name = 'name1' OR 'name2' OR 'name3'. Click ok and let it run. This should retrieve all the records for you. |
