Q1 Has anyone experience any problem with the Max8 SR1 patch. A colleague told me after installing SR1 on 38 workstations he noticed a huge decrease in over-all performance in Max8. View all companies and Individuals use to take 3min now takes 10min.

Q2 Is Max 8 a memory hog ???? What is the recommended memory allocation for Max8.
Running Processes.
W3dbsmgr.exe---Database Service Manager. 148MB memory usage.
Madata6.dat------Maximizer Data Support File. 45 MB Memory usages.

Memory usage is killing me....especially on my laptop users. Some of my laptops Max out at 256MB Ram.

The RAM requirements for Max8/ME8 clients are 128MB minimum, 256MB recommended.

Have you tried a minimal column view (i.e. just name and company, no UDFs)?

I had the same problem.
Go to the server and open the address book under Master, select each view and then select view all address book entries, the view needs to be populated on the server first, this will speed up the performance.
This works for all default views, I am am still having the problem with my custom views.

Its taking about 10 minutes instead of 60 seconds to load all the companies since installing SR1.

Oh my gosh. Thanks a lot for letting us all know. My clients were screaming in my ear for the last 3 weeks and when I installed the Pervasive CLient engine it fixed it but caused other problems (MAximizer, remember, installs the workgroup engine).

Did you get the custom view to go back to normal speed >> The public custom views?

Its a result of the UDF's being sorted in your view. There is a new feature that allows you to sort your table UDF's any way you want. The interface is attempting to replicate that custom sort in your view which is slowing it down. I hear they are going to fix it in the next SR. Also Pervasive has just released SR2 which they say has many speed improvements. Has anyone confirmed this?

SR2 is avaliable from Maximzier and fixes this performance issue... I just did a removal and totally fresh install of build 1425 (SR1) on our workstations a couple weeks ago and now SR2 says it must be installed as a FRESH installation.

Wish I could have some maximizer personell come and do the installations on all these workstations, I hope maximizer spends more resources getting it right the first time because it costs us a lot!
