Cannot open address book since changing server and updating gateway

Our file server for Maximizer 9 was recently replaced, and the datafiles copied onto the new server. However client machines can no longer open the address book, and the software hangs very much like whent he Gateway is not set properly. I deleted the LOC file and ensured the gateway was set for the new server (which happens to be a Windows 2008 server), but the problem still exists. I have checked the permissions and the read/write status of the director where the address book is held, and these are all set correctly.

Interesting, my old server is still on the network, and even though the address book data is not held on this, if I change the gateway back to the old server, address books can then be accessed. In fact, if I leave the gateway open, clients can access the address book, with the gateway being assigned to the first client computer that logs in.

Therefore, the problem seems to lie with the new Windows 2008 server when this is assigned as the gateway. I can run Maximizer locally on this machine and access the address book.

Any suggestions?

Good Afternoon,

I'm afraid your problem is almost certainly down to the new server. Maximizer 9 does not support installation on Windows 2008, the Pervasive Database engine that it depends on does not support that version of windows and probably does not run under it.

Thanks for the response.

If that were the case, then why would Maximizer run locally on the Windows 2008 server?

Having said that it will only run locally if the gateway is assigned to this server - if the gateway is assigned to any other client or the old server, then it will not open the address book locally.

Could this just be a firewall issue?
