I was wanting to find out whther there is any facility to modify the formatting (field placement) of the maximizer labels report. I realise there is a limited capacity to adjust the field placement by going into File/Preferences/Format but can you delve deeper?

Alternatively is it possible to run a label merge in Word97? Intuitively I wouldn't have thought so as the Word/Max "merge" is more of a "print/next record/print again" function.
TIA

Sure. Export the data from Maximizer, import into Word, then do the merge from there.

Kinda defeats the purpose of having Max though doesn't it? :-)

I've got a read-only ODBC link to the database so I could also do the merge in Access (or even Word?) but I wanted something easy for the users.

Cheers

Not really. Maximizer is better at keeping track of all the bits of information. Word is better (more flexible) for formatting labels. It's that "right tool for the job" thing.

I have seen a third party utility that allows Crystal reporting on the current Maimimizer list. I saw a run-time Crystal Report hooked to a button on Max's toolbar that took the current MAximizer list and presto, labels. The Crystal Reports labels generator probably has more flexibility than Word's.

That third party utility would be Maxbadge by CABC I guess, it was originally designed for creating conference labels but is not restricted to that. It uses the Crystal engine and the current list in Maximizer. If you have crystal then you can design your own labels to be used in the software.
