When remote users are connecting via VPN they receive "FTP connection failure (server IP)" when trying to sync. Its not all the time and not the same users. They can ping the server via command window. Is the cable connection they use too fast?

I had the same problem with VPN. My FTP port was set to 21. I changed the ftp port to 20 and problem went away....don't ask my why. I am still scratching my head on it.

That would be a change in the registry correct? and that would need to be changed on not only the remote server but all the clients as well?

Go to the Knowledge Base and locate document 030131-000002, "FTP Port Numbers and MaxExchange". I found it by doing a search on
+change +ftp +port |

Here is my fix, thanks for all the help guys... Works perfectly 1.Choose Start > Run. 2.Type REGEDIT and click OK. 3.Navigate down to HKEY_CURRANT_USER\Software\Maximizer Technologies\MaxExchange\Datasynch. 4.Right click on the FTPServerMainPort setting and choose Modify. 5.Set the Base to Decimal, and then change the Value Data from 21 to the new listening port of 9300. 6.Click OK. 7.Exit the Registry Editor. 8.Reboot your system. |
