I have a laptop user running Maximizer Enterprise 8 with all current service updates. When opening Maximizer, the following message appears - "Maximizer is currently only able to support Microsoft Outlook functionality via Simple MAPI".

Outlook 2002 is installed and everything has been working well in the past. If Outlook is opened before Maximizer, there are no problems - only when Outlook is closed and Maximizer is started.

The user also has MaxExchange loaded on his machine but this problem is occurring in the office when he is connected to the network.

Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful . . .

We're using Max 7, not Enterprise, but when we had a similar problem it was a Preferences setting. Under File > Preferences > Mail (assuming the Preferences are similar), do you have "Override Extended MAPI" checked? If it is, that would cause your problem - to fix it, just uncheck it, shut down Max and Outlook and restart.

Override Extended MAPI is unchecked. As far as I know, no settings have been changed. This problem has just started within the last couple of weeks and I have searched on this board, on Maximizer's support site, and on the internet and haven't found any solutions.

When they are in Maximizer after seeing the message, what do they see in the Inbox of Maximizer's Email window? Do they see the contents of their Outlook Inbox, or something else?

I seem to remember having a similar problem and it was caused by Outlook not having the CDO (Collaborative Data Objects) installed. These are not installed with a default installation of Office. Try modifying your Office or Outlook installation and check that CDO is installed.

I can't find any references to these in Maximizer documentation but i couldn't get my Maximizer/MaxExchange to work without them.

Not sure if this is related, or if it maps to what TimR is describing, but Outlook should be installed as Workgroup.

Thanks for your input, put the problem still persists. I have installed the Collaborative Data Objects on the machine and Outlook is setup as a Workgroup.

When we open Maximizer without Outlook open first, we get the error message and click OK and then we see an empty inbox. There are no other folders, such as Sent Items, etc. But, once again, if Outlook is opened first, Maximizer works fine.

Thanks again for all your help.

I have exactly the same problem.
Using Max 8.0 on single user laptop but e-mail icon is greyed out. Use Outlook Express as my default e-mail but I can no longer access it via Maximizer sinced upgrading from 7.0 to 8.0

This applies irrespective of which application I open first. Any ideas ?

I'm running Maximizer Ent 7 and had the same problem when I made a change to my profile in outlook. I added an inbox then next time I tried to use Maximizer to send an email I got the simple MAPI message. I also noticed that opening Maximizer before Outlook prevents the problem.

I am also getting this error "Maximizer is currently only able to support Microsoft Outlook functionality via Simple MAPI" on 3 pc's and after installing SR4A. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Maximizer to SR4 and outlook. Error occurs when outlook profile has more than one mailbox in it. once I remove extra mailboxes error goes away. This did not happen before and only effecting 3 out of 45 users. problem occurs in outlook 98 and XP. tried all of the previous suggestions does not work unless I remove extra mailboxes. Any suggestions? We need to use the extra mailboxes.

I have found my Solution: I get the "Maximizer is currently only able to support Microsoft Outlook functionality via Simple MAPI" error because the additional mailboxes and the main mailboxes are in seperate mailbox stores. once I put the the mailboxes into same store then error goes away.
