Hello all!
Yes, I understand that Maximizer 7 or 8 using the Pervasive Workgroup engine is unsupported by Maximizer, and there may have been many people whom have been waiting on upgrading simply because they could not get Maximizer to work on Vista.

Maximizer 7 and 8 CAN work on vista, as long as the /pvsw/bin/w3dbsmgr.exe microkernel engine is run as administrator.

I was looking for a way to run the program as Administrator on bootup, and I finally found it! The following website had the info on how to run any program as administrator on startup:

http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=0&p=6509411

Heres what needs to be done:

1. Launch the Task Scheduler: Start Menu → All Programs → Accessories → System Tools → Task Scheduler

2. From the Actions panel on the right, select "Create Task"...
a. For "Name", enter "Pervasive Workstation"

3. Go to the Security Options on the General tab
a. Select an user account with administrative privileges
b. Select the radio button Run only when user is logged on
c. Check the box next to "Run with highest privileges"

4. Go to the Triggers tab and click New...
a. In Begin the task, select At log on
b. In the Settings options, select All users
c. In the Advanced Settings options, check the box Enabled
d. Click OK to close the dialog

5. Go to the Actions tab and click New...
a. For Action, select Start a program
b. In the Settings options, for the Program/Script, browse for "c:\pvsw\btrv\w3dbsmgr.exe"
c. next to "Add Arguments" type in "-btrv"
d. Click OK to close the dialog

6. Go to the Settings tab
a. Check the box "Run task as soon as possible after a scheduled start is missed"
b. Uncheck the box "Stop the task if it runs longer than"

7. Make any other desired settings

8. Click OK to save and close the task properties

Now log off/log on: You should now see the pervasive workstation icon in the system tray!

One more thing to note:

Remember that Vista tries to run everything within the userspace: Because of this, Addressbooks Must be stored somewhere within the users home folder: I put mine under usershome/appdata/local/maxdata.

To Create a new address book using the above setup, run Maximizer as Administrator, then go into the folder where you placed the address books and change the file ownership of all the data files to the user (I used the TAKEOWN -u user -s system command in the command prompt)

btw, this was all set up under Vista Home Basic.
