Hi Folks,
I'm having a miserable time installing Max ENT 8 as a trial for a
client. I keep getting an "Internal Error 2738" during the
installation process. I click OK and get one final error:

"Error: -1603 Fatal error during installation. Consult Windows
Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for mor information."

I saw a posting on another site discussing Norton Antivirus and script blocking so I
made sure both were turned off. Unfortunately I still get the problem.

I ultimately end up with a failed installation of Maximizer in which I
can't uninstall either!!

Any ideas? I activated trace log for the installer if anyone knows how
to read them...

Client's PC is Windows XP Pro with SP2. Windows Firewall is turned off
(probably thanks to Norton).

Thanks,
Jeff

I ended up installing latest version of MS Windows Sript from here:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp

and was able to do the uninstall!

I also had the following problem but with Maximizer Enterprise 9 (SQL):

Error: -1603 Fatal error during installation. Consult Windows
Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information."

I found that the only way I could remove Maximizer Enterprise 9 (SQL) from SBS 2003 was to delete the Maximizer folder’s remove all reference to Maximizer from the registry and also run the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility (downloadable via http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301) and reboot the server. This then enabled me to complete a fresh install without any issues.

I hope this is of use to anybody who experiences the same issue
