I decided to try and backup, and then restore, the address book to a new book and see if it resolved some problems. I did a quick backup from the Administrator utility of the address book (STL) to the hard drive.

I then created a new book (STLR - the r is for restore) and then attempted to restore backup of STL to STLR. I tried it twice, the first time I did not copy settings/fields/preferences/users from STL to STLR when I created it. When I tried to restore the book it asked me for the "source address book password" I entered every password I could think of (including the master user password, "nothing" and "control") but none of them worked.

Then I decided to try recreating the new empty book but to copy the settings from the original book. I did this, and when I tried to restore again I was asked for the "Target address book password" I went through the same list of passwords, but again nothing worked!

I'm lost, now, I can't imagine what password it is looking for!

Should be the MASTER password - whatever you're using for that.

I thought so as well. Try as I might, the master password does not work! (It's an exceedingly simple and insecure password, so there is no doubt whatsoever that it was typed correctly)

Any other thoughts?
