I travel and want to use my laptop on the road and my desktop at home. Without purchasing another license, can I run a portable hard drive to store the Max 10 and then be able to share the program with both computers?

The terms of the license say will need a number of licenses equal the number of named users or the number of computers you will be accessing the software on, whichever is the greater.

So I'm afraid that even if you keep the data on an external HDD then you will still need a license for each computer you intend to use the software on.
