I would like to split the adress book into 3 sub adress books. Instead of having one big adress book i want to have 3 small one. I am using Max 8. How can i do this? Or can this be done? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance!

Should be easy :

1) Create the 3 new Address Books
2) Select the Address Book entries you want in the 1st new Address Book
3) Use Edit - Make Selected List Current to ake those entries your current list
4) Use File - Transfer to copy them into the new Address Book
5) Repeat steps 2-4 for the other 2 new Address Books

You end up with 4 Address Books - your existing one as an archive plus the 3 new smaller ones. Of course, each of them will be completely indpependent, but all you asked for was to split your existing Address Book into 3 smaller ones.

Thanks for the quick reply Rooster, but that was not what i was looking for. I want to split one adressbook in sub adressbooks, like:

1. "Business Contact Adressbook"
-retailer
-supplier
-....

2. "Client Adressbook"
-purchased more than 1000$
-purchased more than 5000$
-....

Is it possible to do this in Max 8 ? Thank you in advanced for your answer

Then why not just use UDF's to characterize everyone (ie - "Client - Purchased > $1000", "Client - Purchased > $5000", "Business Contact - Retailer", etc.)and create Saved Searches? to recall the appropriate lists. If you wanted you could then put everybody in the same Address Book.

This is what we did - works great.
