You select the existing Contact first, then the new Company. Then you select Combine Entries. This will create a copy of the existing Contact, with Notes, etc., within their new Company - you will have to go back and edit the old Contact and associated Notes, Documents etc. as it will still exist.

Thank you for your reply, and the other one about old_Smith. That was a great idea!

The problem in moving a contact from one company to another is this: if you have so many contacts for a company (say more than 20) that it takes up more than one screen, then you cannot select the contact at the bottom of the second screen, scroll up, and select the company.
Maximizer just won't let you scroll up.

do a lookup for the company, then do a lookup (add to lookup) for the contact, then tag both & combine

Methuen's right.

I think what your problem occurs becasue you are selecting the new Company from the main Address Book pane, then the Contact by locating their old Company from the main Address Book pane and then selecting the Contact from that Company's Contacts pane & tab.

If that's the case, instead you just use View > All Address Book Entries to have both Companies and Contacts appears in your main Address Book pane, then select both the Contact and their new Company from that pane using Ctl-Space Bar. Once they're selected the procedure is the same.
