I am looking for advice on how best to utilize maximizer.
Currently we have 1 server 2 workstaions and 1 mobile syncing via email to our database.
We want to create another database for our new sales representives in other states.
We don't want to them to use our current Database because it is large and contains sensitive information.
The maximium number of "reps" will be 8 we don't want them to have access to each others work but we want to monitor them from all from our head office. oh we are using Maximizer Enterprise 7 and have a purchased an upgrade to version 8 but not implemented it as yet.

thanks heaps!

Hi, Paul.

First of all, you'll probably want to perform your upgrade to v8 before rolling out more remotes. It will be easier that way.

That said, you'll need a Maximizer Enterprise license for each of your remote sales reps. You can create a separate database on your main server but you'll need a second MaxExchange Server (MXS) machine because each MXS box can only synchronize one address book.

For the new address book you'll want to set up a distribution site for each of your remote reps. They won't see each others' data as long as their records are marked for distribution to just their site. However, all remotes will synchronize to the same address book at your head office so you can monitor them.

Oh, and although you're currently using Email as your MaxExchange transport you really should use FTP for your new remotes if at all possible. It will save you headaches in the long run.

I hope this is clear. If you need more assistance, please contact your Business Partner.

Thanks for the help Gord but you wrote "They won't see each others' data as long as their records are marked for distribution to just their site. However, all remotes will synchronize to the same address book at your head office so you can monitor them."

Where do i configure this?

Unfortunatly i am in a city that has no access to a business partner however i have reasoble success seting up maximizer so far.
i am little hesitant about version 8 because i read on max talk some people with issues. So it is still sitting in the box.

regards Paul

That is explained in detail in the "Setting Up MaxExchange" chapter of the MaxExchange User's Guide. You use the "*MaxExchange Distribution" UDF to flag the records that are to be synchronized with the various remotes.
