Posted this in "Support" and got no responses. Please note we've set it up as per Max setup docs and contacted Max tech support, but so far it does not really work as advertised. We're doing our homework, but all Max tech support can tell us is to re-install both Max and Outlook 2000 - they have no idea what's going on.

Issue is that we can see all of the Personal Folder structure, but can only drag & drop messages into some of the Personal Folders. No rhyme or reason to which ones do/don't work, but the ones we can't drag messages to also won't let us drag messages out of them.

For what it's worth, this may be a show-stopper for our integration of email with Max. Any help will be appreciated.

TIA - R.

Hi

I'm pretty certain I have seen this issue before.

I think the problem is with folders on the Exchange server that are not set as mail folders, e.g. they are conversations etc.

Try setting a new folder up as mail I would expect it work.

If this is good then you can recreate the other folders as needed.

We're not using Exchange - would this still apply?

How do you collect your mail then?

Extended MAPI is only available in Outlook configured as 'Corporate/Workgroup' only, and this is configured ideally off of an MS Exchange system.

Using Outlook Corporate/Workgroup without Exchange. Works fine with everything other than Max integration. With only 5 users Exchange is tough to cost justify.

understandable.

Have you tried creating a new Mail Profile (Start>settings>control panel>Mailbox) and using the Outlook Import/Export to migrate the Personal Folders?

I had a similar problem once and it went away after creating a new mail profile (it also fixed the 2way calendar synchronisation).

I also recall a colleague discovering MAPI DLL version conflict after a Microsoft SrvPack was applied once but am unable to recall what it was. Some thing to do with Microsoft shipping updated DLLs without warning that broke MAPI integration.

If i can find out what the version conflict was i will post it.

Similar to your idea of creating a new profile and doing export/import on the offending folders, I simply created new folders and moved the old messages to them, then deleted the old offending folders. All seems ok now, but without knowing what "broke" the offending folders in the first place we'll have to see how long the fix lasts.
