Why can a customer only seem to place 2 items in my shopping basket, as soon as they try to add the 3rd it deletes all the other items, then when they try again, they get an error...
This seems quiet serious. and I need some urgent help, I have not played with any of the code, all I have done is placed a skin over my site using the skin creator. Is this a problem with the developers edition version 6 Take a look and try to put in more than 3 items. http://www.conarts.com Comments and advice most welcome.. PS. I have sent the same request for support to Multiactive, and got an automated respose... No joy there.... |

I am afraid I don't really have an answer, but I have tested other sites (such as the one on ecbuilder.co.uk), and one that CABC are building and found that they do not seem to have the problem. Have you tried republishing the site?
If Multiactive do contact you then it might be useful to tell them that your site works in Netscape 4 (but not IE5.5, or IE4). |

You mentioned the above in your reply, did you test this?? Does it seem to work in Netscape but no IE4+ Did you place more than 3 items in the basket using netscape (I don't have netscape on my system) Thanks |

Yes I tested it with IE4, IE5.5 and Netscape 4, and it only worked (accepted more than 3 items) on Netscape 4.

I think I've got to the point where I need a javascript programmer to check the code in my template, the only thing is tho, is that I have not touched the javascript headerjavascript.xsl file, which generates all the code automatically. All I have done is use ecskin creator (I have however used the express checkout options)
I'm not sure if the problem is with the shopping basket (basket.htm) or the item pages... I'm going to copy in another basket.htm file from a standard template and see if that works.. at least I can then tell if its the products pages or the shopping basket.. I'll report back later. Anyone else had a problem like this. using the skin creator and an express checkout style... [This message has been edited by Chris Spencer (edited 31 January 2001).] |

Well after contacting Multiactive tech support (UK) and sending them my data file, it seems I have used HTML in a field (thats blue and should support HTML)
There response was "If we delete all the HTML (in the blue boxes) it works okay... Well 'duh' if I use an empty data file it works to. It seems you can not use HTML in the blue boxes after all. note: the only tags I use in any blue boxes was:
No other tags at all were used and yet they tell me if they delete all my descriptions it works... Excellent... or what... |

Chris,
I hope that the following comments may be of assistance. -- The issue you are having problems with has more to do with his cookies. If you did not modify the HTML, JavaScript, or any of the resulting ecBuilder code, you can try removing the cookies from your Temporary Internet Files folder. In IE4, choose Tools > Internet Options, click Delete Files. For good measure, click Clear History as well. --- I hope this helps. Ian Wallace - With thanks to my advisor on this one! CABC Newbury |

Copied Below is the response from Multiactive (State Side), I have editored his name and number, but I am now confident that a solution will be forth coming...
---------- Hello Chris, thanks for bringing this to our attention, I did read your comments on the discussion group and this has led us to do some more investigation. The problem you are describing is attributed to the physical capacity a cookie has within the different versions of the different browsers. Currently, the ecBuilder shopping cart is grabbing the contents of the each products item description field and placing them in the shopping cart each time an item is added. The larger the item description, the less items that can go in the cart. We are currently working on the fix for this which will see the cart ignore the contents of this field, and will making it available to you, and others, this week. Thanks for bring this to our attention, and if you would like to communicate with me directly, please feel free to do so, Thanks again Chris, J*** Product Manager, Multiactive Software Inc. (604) 899 2*** ----------- Hang in ther guys, this is an excellent product (this type of thing sometimes happens, when riding this close to the technology front) Chris |
