Receive email in Max 9

I'm a brand new user and I'm trying to figure out how to check for new msgs. from within Maximizer 9. I have been an Outlook user and I'm accustomed to the send/receive button on the Outlook tool bar and have searched for a similar way to check for new emails. I realize I have a new interface learning curve but am I missing something very obvious?
