I cannot figure out how to use Crystal Reports to customize Maximizer reports. I want to be able to add the display of some user-defined fields to the Notes report. Currently, this report does include the built-in field 'email' if it exists. I'd like to also include some other fields.
Using Crystal Reports, I can't even figure out how to display all the Notes, much less add any other fields. And I only want to do this for the selected user, not necessarily my whole address book

thanks,
Peter

Hi, Peter.

You can't modify the built-in Notes report because it predates Maximizer 8 (when Crystal Reports was added) so it is hard-coded into the Maximizer application. You'd have to create your own Notes report and then add whatever extra fields you want.

There is a simple example in the help file for CreateUdfViews

http://www.regensys.com/CreateUdfViews

(install it, run it, click "Help" and scroll to the bottom of the main Help page to find the link). The example uses the A_E_MAIL_ADDRESS view as an example, so you'd want to do the same thing with the AMGR_Notes view.

When you run a custom report from the Reports menu, Maximizer gives you the option of running the report on:

( ) Selected entries in the current list
( ) All entries in the current list
( ) Entire Address Book
Thanks for the info. I guess my problem is not so much the UDF fields, although your program helps with that. My problem is that I just can't figure out how to create a simple report with Crystal Reports. The doc is less than helpful. Does anyone have a sample report they could send me, just so I can get the idea? I want to create a report that displays all the notes for a particularly entry.

thanks,
Peter
