I successfully used Max backup. However, when I used "restore" I got Error 58 UDF Text longer than field length and the restore stopped and hungup Maximizer 5.0.
Is there any way to find the problem UDF and then delete it to hopefully fix the problem?

Max 5.0 is making me very nervous about its stability. I've had a six week down time on my 8,787 address names data base due to errors which corrupted the data base.
Any suggestions as to a "Utility" that will fix the data base or a service provider who can fix/recover Max 5.0 data base?

I am beginning to loose confidence in Maximizer which is so mission critical to my business.

Please offer any suggestions. URGENT-HELP

Maximizer 5.0 uses workstation btrieve 6.15. In most cases this is pretty reliable. However, Its not really intended for more than a few concurrent users. It really depends on the state of your hardware/network/operating systems. If you have PC's that crash or lock up your quite likely to damage files. If you have 5-10 users or more or get lots of problems you'll need to buy and install client server btrieve. This is versy sold up to 100+ users and will protect from the file damage.

With regading to finding the error 58...sometimes you can find it . Sometimes you can transfer all the data other than the bad record to a new database.

We can look at it if your not succeeding. Often a good recent backup is the best bet. just replace MXZD.Max and MXZX.Max as a pair.

Theoretically the utility you need BUTIL but its only supplied with client server btrieve.

Ian
