Hopefully someone will be able to help with the following query.

We decided to implement a CRM system for our business and chose Maximiser CRM 11, running on four company laptops and networked to the address book file on our main server, running Microsoft Small Business Server 2003.

The system worked for a period of time, but recently we have experienced problems in that often the Maximiser application on the local machines takes a long time to open (5 minutes plus) and when open our address book is no longer listed.

We then try to connect to the address book on the server, which it says it has done successfully (although this process also takes a long time) but when trying to open the address book it is not listed as an option to open.

There are no issues with opening the Maximiser application on the server and accessing the address book directly from there. This suggests that a networking issue is the problem, around SQL Server 2008.

Does anyone have an idea as to what the issue may be and how to resolve the problems?

Having searched the forum I see that people with similar issues have been told to look at, 'the server firewall potentially blocking access to the SQL server from the workstation', however we have no internal server firewall.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Based on what you have indicated I would suspect that possibly the DNS in your network is resolving all addresses via your internet DNS servers, although it is hard to be sure without actually checking the system. It sounds as if when you are opening Maximizer the system is finding it hard to quickly locate the computer with Maximizer on it. Did you for example change your ADSL router and internet connection at around the time the problem started?

The other main reason why Maximizer can be slow to open is that the Windows setting are saved with the email window open (so it is automatically reopened when you open Maximizer) and you have a very large inbox or very slow email system.

If you have continuing problems we could investigate them remotely for you if you purchase an incident from CRMShop.co.uk
