Hi,

I put a thread up about the lack of Maximizer support and am unable to go in and add this information as it has been closed.

To recap I had a problem with trying to get Maximizer 10 to work on a new laptop runnings MS Vista.

I received a telephone call from support and for two days a very helpful Stephen Hughes gave me advice and assistance in trying to sort out the problem. Stephen was using a neat bit of software that allowed him to take control of my pc.

After this time, we came to the conclusion that there was obviously a major problem that would require drastic action.

As I live and work near to CABC in Newbury we agreed that I would take the machine in for some more intense work. However, Friday 6th February 2009 was a bad day to be travelling in the Southern part of the UK, even in a Land Rover Discovery III! The snow was so bad I was forced to turn around by the Police.

Stephen then gave me additional information that I should try for myself.

In the end I reverted the laptop back to factory settings and started re installing software. With almost everything now installed I now have a Vista machine running Maximizer properly and very well. What a great improvement V10 is!

After further discussions with Stephen, he thinks the problem was either due to a file which was not or could not be removed from my attempted installation of Maximizer 8 which as you may know cannot run on Vista. Or the original factory install was corrupt.

It just remains for me to thank Stephen for his support and help, over what is for us the users of the product a stressful time.

Best regards

Chris

How would you rate the service?

We used another crm software at my old job, we went 2 weeks without any support. I won't name the Vendor but they are pretty well known.

I am thinking about buying maximizer for my little business, I had heard nothing but great reviews about the product.

I think all softwares will go wrong if you don't know what you are doing. I have been doing some fishing around and to be honest, I think maximizer crm is for me. How much did you pay for support?

Is it charged by the hour? or is it a years agreement. Either way I would rather buy it and have it there rather than go through the hassle.

Glad you got it fixed at the end.
Hi mdbhossain,

Firstly I can only agree that Maximizer is the best CRM product on the market. I have been using it since it was a DOS product and upgrade every 2 or 3 years, usually when there is a major reason to.

What has happened in the CRM market is the products have become seriously more complicated. Meaning it is very difficult to get the product going straight away on your own. However, my experience this time was that a clean computer gave me a simple route to success.

I did not pay for the support I got, simply because I had only just bought it and could not get it going. However, like all support on computers the danger is that you may have something on your computer that is causing the problem. As mentioned for me it seems that it may have been part of Maximizer version 8 which will not work on a Vista machine.

As a suggestion, why don't you download a copy and install it, to see how it goes. If you have used a CRM then you should be able to get your head around it. However, what you will find over the two main rivals is that it has a neater and simpler method of storing data such as contact made, emails, faxes, quotations sent etc. This means that for me I can easily bring up every conversation, fax, quote, letter over the last 12 years within seconds. For someone who easily forgets this is a fantastic facility.

One word of advice, make sure you follow the installation instructions to the letter. Don't just skim over the words, make sure you do exactly as it says. For example in one part you need to change the directory from the prompted one on the screen. Following the instructions seems to allow a clean and easy install. They have obviously had a lot of experience and don't want people coming back for simple queries. Hence the instructions are very good.

Hope that helps.

Best regards

Chris
