I have recently switched a MaxExchange Server over from a Win95 machine to a Win2000 Pro machine. I am receiving the following error on the remote w/s when processing packets.
\\maxexchange\maxexchange\outbox\E606A8C7\Trnsp\:
access denied
I have shared the folder and can browse to it on the network no problem. Is it the colon : at the end of the path? If so where would it come from? The same error pops up even if I add a brand new remote.

No this is ver. 6.0 w/sp2. I also have a remote server that is on Win2000, I have had it running since June. This remote server acts as a server for a workgroup of 6 with either Win98 or Win2000. I only one remote w/s attached to it and it is also Win2000.So far no problems and this remote server is the only remote accessing the main server where I don't see this error message.
It sounds like one of the following problems:

Permissions - If MaxExchange has been installed on an NTFS volume you might have to add your remote user(s) to the "Power Users" group on the MaxExchange Server to give them write access to the transport folders.

Authentication - You could also try temporarily enabling the Guest account on the MaxExchange Server and see if that helps. If it does, then you need to set up that machine so your remote user(s) can authenticate.
