I am using max7 and would like to use the orderdesk facility. I already have an ecommerce site so I dont want to have to buy ECBuilder. The order desk asks you to get item info from a mbd file. I have my catalogue in a mdb file format (access) and I was hoping someone could help me access it to use as the catalogue.
Much thanks in advance!

I live in Perth, and I already contacted the Business partner here. They had not ever used the order desk facility . I contacted Maximizer head office in Australia and after many many hours on the phone in queues, at STD rates, I was told that this was more of a technical question and the sales staff were unable to answer it. The technical staff said they didnt know and that someone would get back to me.....?

I was trying to find out if I absolutely HAD to buy ECBuilder, to use the order desk facility, or surely since it is part of the Max7, that I could use it anyway. I have been trying to find out if I can somehow access my catalogue which is in access format. I dont understand the mbd extension.

If I cant use the orderdesk, then the ordering will need to be done in Access, and I will need to get that facility written. It means mucking around with odbc drivers etc etc, seems we all like Max7 so much, we were hoping to stay within it if possible.
Let me start by saying that the Orderdesk is best suted for online ordering & processing. With EC Builder you can generate a website and just copy the catalog pages to your existing website you can do some modification to the catalog pages so that the look and feel of your site is maintained. The advantage is that the customer keys in the order, all you have to do is process, the order automatically populates your orderdesk.

That being said you could buy EcBuilder simply to generate a catlog and not use the website builder at all. I was able to open the Maximizer MBD files in Access but couldn't save any changes or modifications because it wanted to update the files first, I use Access 2003 so you would need to use an earlier version of Access (97?)

To create the files in Access you need to know the table structure you could use the light version included with Maximizer ( I think the limitation is 5 items) to see and duplicate the structure in Access and give that a try.
If you like you send me your item list and I can create a Catalog for you for a small fee that you can then try out modifying in Access
