I am trying to set up a client/server situation on max 8.0 and I can tree down all the way to the server and locate the address book on the host computer but with no .exe file extentions visable the book will not open.
I have five licenses and max alarm and finder are shut down so they are not using up a license. I change the w3dbsmgr file to w3dbsmgr.exe -SRDE on both machines and placed the short cut in the start menu as requested from other users, on both machines. I moved the address book out of application data and created the folder c:\AddrBks. I have stopped simple file sharing on both machines and changed the properties on w3dbsmgr to everybody ,and all have full access. I have spent 6 or so hours trying suggestions from the forum and I stil get the same results.

If any body has any Ideas it will be appriciated
Thank you in advance
Brad

Brad, sorry to hear you are having problems.

Have you tried excluding c:\PVSW from your virus scanner? The Pervasive Engine runs a lot of VB Script files, sometimes a over enthusiastic virus scanner will misread this as a virus and delete the files.

As for the address books, when you install the Maximizer Server CD on the server you configure the global list there. All you should need to do on the workstations is go to \\[server name]\MxServer and there should be a workstation install kit there which will have the global list pre-configured for you.
Thank You for your reply,
I had my firewall and anti virus disabled during the install.
When you refer to the maximizer server cd, I am guessing you are referring to Max 8.0 being installed on the computer I choose to be my server?
I can not find any file called Global List (Just Global Edit) and I did a search for a file simular to mxserver and the results were negitive.

I can not see what I am missing,

I have now tried mapping a drive to my file on my server, I get the message (maximizer files have been found in my folder Z) Z being my map to the address book.
To use this file for your new address book, choose ok.

I choose OK and it seems to search for a few seconds or tries to open the file, but nothing happens.

Any more suggestions would be appriciated
Brad
I have to say, I am disappointed with the staff at maximizer, I tried head office for an answer to my questions, then I tried this forum, it has been a month and there is still no response, most other repitable companies have hired staff to watch the forums and help out customers with questions. Maximizer has to be the worst with customer support. I am glad I was not in a rush to get my cmr up and running, I am now off to check out the compitition. Thanks for nothing Maximizer staff.
