This is a particulary nasty Win2k SP2 and WinXP problem: support.multiactive.com/scripts/support.cfg/php.exe/enduser/std_adp.php?p_sid=JrxL4hOg&p_lva=&p_refno=020222-000000
What usually manifests itself, when upgrading to Windows XP or 2000 SP2, is that you are having problems seeing certain UDFs or adding to UDFs.
This is a really unusual problem that manifests its self in the most bizarre circumstances.
It is not a database problem rather a client specific problem.
I have seen on a couple of occasions it being caused by a component in Internet Explorer called 'Hotbars' and on another occasion a client had made its own Retinal Scanners to logon to thier machines and as soon as they temporarily disabled them their UDF problem was cured.
Testing it on a virtually bare 'reduced' system to see if it goes away and the restore each component/driver/application re-install until the error comes back nearly always reveals the culprit.
This as you can appreciate is going to be time consuming though, but it is pretty much the only thing to do.
Going to Start>Run and typing 'MSCONFIG' OK
And remove (disable) everything from the Startup tab.
Reboot, test Maximizer, if the problem goes away, re-enable one Startup program, Reboot, test Maximizer, re-enable another one, Reboot... and so on until the problem occurs again.
The MSCONFIG functionality doesn't exist in Win2k and as such requires a very large and time consuming amount of individual Registry hacks to disable and then re-enable each startup entry.
