We are currently using ACT and have decided because of increasing growth and complexity of our company that we have outgrown it. We looked at a product called OasisCRM by Knowtia. It was a bit rough and missing some stuff we need but it costs about $8K for a 5 user system. We are now looking seriously at ME9 but I must say finding this discussion board has been an eye opener! Can anyone give me a general idea of what a basic 5 person implementation of ME9 would cost? I have been waiting about 4 days to hear back from a sales rep to no avail. Thanks.

As a long time Max user I'd recommend that in the quote it sounds like ToyMaster is going to get you, you need to ensure that all the necessary components are there. As a Max user I can't speak to Enterprise, but Max works better with Outlook 2000 than Outlook 2003, for instance - if you're using Outlook 2003 you should budget for switching. That's only one of the examples, but if you review this board you should find a pretty good list of the things to look out for.

And if you do find that of value, may I suggest that as a way to return the favour, a post summarizing what you find would return good value for other new users? <g>

Thanks guys. I had a Maximizer direct rep call me this morning so I should have some information forthcoming. Rooster, you said that you thought Max works better with the older version of Outlook? If true that is kind of discomforting since we are on the latest versions of Outlook etc.. and going backward would be a big problem for us. I'm really hoping you meant Max worked better with Outlook 2003 than 2000?? Thanks
I had in fact been referring to Max working better with Outlook 2000 than 2003, but from the other posts it may be that the problem is confinded to Max (not Max Enterprise) or it's been fixed in Max 8 and/or 9 Enterprise. However, my real point wasn't just to aim at this one issue, but to use it as an example of what you should have ToyMaster (or whoever) ensure they've allowed for in your quote. THis is wqhere an very experienced Max reseller will make themselves invaluable to you.

As a reseller I have come accross issues with Outlook but have mostly found it to be the way Outlook is configured on the workstation. Rooster is right about working with a experienced reseller. This way a local consultant that can take care of your needs onsite. I am not sure about everyone else but I would perfer to work with someone locally that can come out as needed rather then call Canada.

We have had (and continue to have) huge problems with outlook2003 and Max 8. Firstly you are right, our retailer installed wrongly (I only worked out the mistake from this forum) and secondly we continue to lose perhaps 5% to 10% of emails because max wont send any email address with an uppercase and you dont realise the email hasnt been delivered unless you switch on delivery receipts! (unbelievably frustrating!). I have had to manually re-type in loads of email addresses to ensure that they are all lower case. Max also wont record any local exchange email addresses (ie swallow@swallow.local).

I am really interested if 9 corrects some of these errors although I do wonder what new problems 9 will give me in exchange!
