can't post pdf to Library

Using MAX Enterprise 8 and I can't post a pdf any way any how. Using Acrobat 5 and XP pro

Can't add to Library that is. Just says it is unable. Word docs work fine even zip files.

Found that inorder to view or to add a pdf in the library my acrobat or acrobat reader HAS TO BE OPEN
