I'm upgrading from Maximizer 10 to 11. I did a backup of my Maximizer 10 data. After installing 11 (as well as SQL), I try to do a Restore, but can't figure out how. I'm doing this on a separate machine from my Maximizer 10 install.
It wants to know which address book to restore, which implies it has to already be there. So I created one with the same name. Then it tells me it can only restore on the same machine as the DB (which this is) I didn't even give it the filename of the BAK file yet, so I don't understand what it is complaining about.

I appreciate the response. I already sent this via email.

I followed all of these directions. The problem is that when I do the restore, I get the message:
The user MASTER does not have sufficient rights on this machine to perform the requested action. You may choose to grant this user the necessary rights or to perform the restore directly within SQL Server Management Studio. For full details, please see the Maximizer CRM11 Administrator's Guide or Maximizer Software knowledgebase.

However, there is nothing in the Admin Guid or knowlegebase about how to grant the necessary rights to MASTER to to do a restore directly from SQL. This is a brand new clean install of Maximizer 11, so I don't understand why MASTER doesn't have the necessary rights needed to restore data.

thank you
Peter
Well, got everything working on the test machine. Now I'm ready to install on the production machine. As I did on the test machine, I uninstalled everything: Maximizer, SQL, etc. I want to start totally fresh. I rebooted several times and made sure all components of SQL were uninstalled.

I successfully installed Maximizer and SQL, but again, I'm having problems creating and restoring my address books. For my main address book, it won't even let me create it so I can restore it. In Administrator, I do a File-->New Address Book and it tells me
The Address Book name "foo" is not supported. Potential problems include invalid characters or a duplicate name. Please provide a valid name

The name I'm using is a simple English word, with no special characters or spaces. It definitely doesn't exist yet, since I just installed Maximizer and did a clean install of SQL.

I have some other Maximizer Address books so I proceeded to do those. I had no problem creating the Address Book. I then did the Restore. For both them of, I got 2 errors messages (see attached). An UNRECOVERABLE erorr on the 'User' file and a CREATE I/O error on the 'User' file. However, when I open both address books, they seems fine, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

I opened up the Server Management Console and make sure that Master was listed as a sysadmin.

Any ideas?

I am getting this error as well, Windows 7. Have the file stored in c:\temp to avoid a redirection, permission or UNC path issue. Created an empty database to restore into, I have RW access to the db so I know the SQL is working under the MASTER user.

Im not sure about using SQL Server Management Express, I can't seem to log into the tool and I tried creating an emergency backup using it, it seems to have a different kind of backup file to the Administrator created .BAK
