Have just installed Max 10 Entrepeneur onto server & 1 workstation. When trying to connect to address book on workstation I cannot see the server from the drop down. I can only see the local worstation. I have opened port 1433 as outlined the help sheet. Have I missed something here?

Also during installation on both the server & workstation I got the following error message:

Error 1606 unable to access c:\program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Startup

I see from other posts that this has been an issue but no resolution has been given by Maximizer as yet. Has there been any developments with this yet. Thanks

Tony

Hi Tony,

Can you give me this information:

What OS does the Workstation and the Server have?

Have you patched Entrepreneur with all the updates.

**** Best business practice, recommended by Maximizer themselves, is NOT to have the Windows Firewall enabled while on an Internal LAN.

Let me know and I might be able to offer further assistance
Hi Tony,

The fact that your server had no SQL Express on it prior to Maximizer, may have just shot my rescue attempt for you.

My research as well pointed to the particular port to be opened.

But lets look at this from another point of view.

1) does your server and or workstation have the windows firewall enabled? If so, on an internal lan, it goes against best business setup/practice to have this configuration, as port issues certainly arise

2) If you've already got the FW turned off, is the server properly patched with all the recommended Windows Updates?

3) What AV are you using on the server. I spoke with some of my collegues and there are certain brands of AV that may be playing around.

Let me know
Hi Shawn

I managed to work out what happened. It turns out that the workstation was on a different domain which was not apparent as the domain was named very similar to the main domain. We put the workstation on the same domain as the server & hey presto, it worked!

No explanation was given as to why it was on another domain but it was able to see other applications but it was not running any other SQL applications. I did have a quick look on the net to see if SQL can run on different domains but no easy solution was provided.

Many thanks with your help

Tony
