Trying to install Maximizer CRM 12 Entrepreneur Edition on a single machine running Windows XP Professional SP3 and can't seem to get past the "Cannot install SQL Express server or the current existing one does not work properly". message that comes up when setup tries to install the database components in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server. I've tried several things listed here and elsewhere without success. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You will find comments on this problem elsewhere in the forum and our recommended approach to understanding the cause is usually to perform a test install of the SQL express seperately from Maximizer and this will usually show up the problem.

We have recently seen a number of cases where this problem appears to be caused by an apparantly missing file. This is not quite the case but is due to a problem arising from the previously installed version of the SQL client driver. Since this will be re-installed by Maximizer its generally safe to uninstall this from your server/pc and let Maximizer put it back. You should be more careful in doing this if you know you have other applications on your computer that use Microsoft SQL server
I had the same problem last night and after about 3 hours and reading posts from Google and Maxtalk, I went ahead and uninstalled all SQL Server on my Win 7 computer. I then used the SQL Server 2008 Express that came with Maximizer 12 Entrepreneur download, and installed NEW. Instead of letting it be installed as default "SQL Express", I called it MAXIMIZER and had it installed in "mixed authentication mode".

After that install compelted successfully, I tried installing Maximizer 12 again and it was SUCCESSFUL.

Now if I could only get my *.BAK database file from my old computer to RESTORE to this new/upgraded version of Maximizer.

Good luck...
