Hello all,

We use maximizer 5.0 enterprise edition
After migrating to new servers the maximizer programm is working good.
Only the linked documents can not be accessed anymore, i think because it is a unc path.

I have a few question about this:

When the documents are linked thru a unc path why maximizer is using this method instead of a drive mapping?
How can i change the unc path in all linked objects to complete the migration.

Please advice.

Greetings

Ronald

It is not possible to extract or change the linked path to documents in Maximizer. However... it is possible to give your new server and alias to match the old server.

In order to accomplish this your linked files would need to be on a Windows Server (2000 or 2003) and you would need to have a DNS server on your network (that is the primary DNS for your workstations) to create a DNS Alias. In addition the Microsoft KB Article281308 would have to be followed in order allow UNC browsing using the alias name. This method also assumes that your data structure is still the same and it is possible to share the data with the same share name.

Its not exactly prety, but I have implemented this solution successfully on an upgrade from Maximizer Enterprise 7 to Maximizer Enterprise 8.

This works beause Maximzier seems to store the full UNC path name when it save the document (even if the orginal document was linked to a file on a mapped drive).

Hope that helps.
