Here's another interestingly quirky feature...
Maximizer Enterprise 9.5 has an option to Convert Individuals to Companies, and another to Convert Contacts to Individuals, but no option to Convert Individuals to Contacts within a Company.
Say I have an Individual who becomes an employee of a Company. I drag and drop the Individual onto the Company, and am given the option to Relate (which I figure is used for contractors, consultants, etc). I could Combine them, but I don't want to do that. Or the logical choice would be to Move the Individual into the Company. Right?
Well, I choose Move, and it has me confirm deletion of the Individual entity. Good - I don't want to leave the Individual floating around. However, once the process is complete, and I look at the Company, the person is NOT listed there as a Contact. The person's cell phone and email address now show up as Company contacts, which they shouldn't be. It even shares his MaxEx Distribution. But the person himself is now gone, absorbed without a name as part of the Collective. Poor guy.
If I first Convert the Individual into a Company, and THEN move him into the target Company, yes he becomes a Contact within it. But we really should NOT have to do that.
Furtherly interesting is that if I then Convert that Contact back into being an Individual, and choose NOT to use the Company's address for the Individual, the result is that the Individual retains the Company name (why?), but now has a blank MaxEx Distribution field (again, why?).
If I DO choose to give the Company's address to converted Individual, he keeps the address but not the phone numbers, and still has no Distribution.
The inconsistencies and illogicality in Maximizer make my brain hurt. (Don't get me started on the scattered settings.) It's a good thing I enjoy mind teaser puzzles.
