Old Win3.1 machine died. Imagine, after 12 happy years it up and dies. You'd think it would have been more considerate, and stuck around for the 20-year retirement party, but noooooo, it has to slack off...
Fortunately, I have the Max3.0 files & myriad databases on a zip drive, all in \MAXWIN\[manymanysubfoldernameshere]\*.*
I have installed Maximizer 5.0 on a "new" Win98 computer (I've had the 5.0 box around for years, never needing to upgrade from 3.0, me doing nothing more than labels).
I can put the "3.0" \MAXWIN\ folder anywhere I want on the "new" computer, but...
My problem is getting 5.0 to "see" the older folders to convert all those databases to 5.0
Apparently "conversion" presumes I'd update the dead computer?
I'm open to plausible recommendations for converting 12 years of work from the 3.0 format to the 5.0 format.
Oh, ah, the "new" Win98 computer has DOUBLE the memory of the Win3.1 - a whole 32mb! OOooo, I feel so special now
Thanks,
David
