Hi all,

I have just upgraded a remote workstation, from 9 to 10. I had to change the password on the maxexchange server, and now the remote workstation keeps prompting for the password whenever it tries to sync. I have tried to reset it so that it's remembered but nothing seems to work. I read an article talking about MXZREM.MAX file but this does not seem to exist. Is this because its now MSSQL ???

TIA

Chris.

When it comes to processing a site refresh out advice would be to always do it with the machine connected to the LAN as the refresh packets are quite large and it is easier to transfer them over a high speed LAN rather than an internet connection.

Your problem sounds like a partially decompressed packet or a corrupted packet, I would suggest you go to the Program Files\Maximzer\Max Exchange\INBOX\[Site ID] folder and look in there and in the trnsp sub folder, the packets should come in pairs each with a .att and a .hdr file. If you see any other files (like an .ENCRYPT file under v10 I believe) then you should remove them and restart Max Exchange Remote. This should allow it to resume processing.
think we need to seriously consider reverting back to 9, not been able to sync the remote machines since the upgrade, seems to download the packets fine, decompresses them, imports them, then nothing happens ... whenever we process packets again it says do we want to recover, answer yes it starts all over again ... answer no nothing happens ... sql server express seems to have slowed the whole thing down to a grinding halt ... all in all very frustrating ... if you have any ideas please help!

cheers

Chris, I would suggest that you contact your Maximizer Business Partner. Maximizer Software explicitly state that Maximizer CRM 10 is a product that requires a certified Maximizer consultant to install it, I would say that any Max Exchange system needs a consultant installation even more so than the normal ones.

You are probably encountering a problem with the configuration that a certified consultant could fix for you fairly quickly.
we are fairly familiar with sql server and upgraded 8 pervasive to 9 sql easily ... everything is working as per usual its just the processing of packets at the remote client end ... for a product that bundles sql server express with itself as the backend database it should install it without further configuration being needed, yet upon install we had problem after problem with it ... i am wiping one of the remote clients this evening and starting from scratch and i will note any installtion issues along the way ... this time i will avoid upgrading the old pervasive v 9 remote client address book and just create a brand new sql one with a big refresh and see if that makes any difference ...
