Update. I finally have CRM 10 Entrepreneur working both on my laptop and on my windows mobile 6.1 cell phone. More importantly, they synch together.
For the error "older version of maximizer exists" error, I did a complete erasure of the cell phone which included restoring the out-of-the box factory software, plus explicitly formating the internal memory. The HTC Touch Diamond has built in 4GB memory. There must have been vestiges of MaxMobile 9.5 in there. Why the MaxMobileLite 10 installer didn't deal with them or why MaxMobileLite 10 ignore the 9.5 vestiges, I don't know. Because the phone was completely wiped clean, I also had to re-install and activate (i.e., type in serial numbers and registration codes) for the other software I have on the cell phone.
I'm glad I finally got my contact database for reference on the cell phone.
Frankly, this has been the most difficult software installation of any software in a long time. I bought the CRM 10 Entrepreneur upgrade on Nov 5/08. It's now January 24/09. I'm not a techie, just an end user. On the first attempt to install, I spent 3 days. After that I tried again when I had free evenings and weekends. Finally, today I finished working through the error messages and the more difficult instances where CRM 10 would just crash but give no error messages. Things just didn't work. I used up my free support time with Maximizer and more (they were generous and had an interest in a satisfied customer). In the end I conservatively estimate I've invested 5 days cumulative effort. Along with the cost of the software added to my foregone billable hours, I estimate the venture cost me over $3,000.
Initial impressions, was it worth it? I saw no other alternative in order to have my calendar and my contact database on my handhed and to have both synched to the laptop. For speed in synching and in using MaxMobileLite, I have no issues there, MaxMobileLite runs fast enough. Others have commented on the nuisance of needing a password to start MaxMobileLite, but I like the security if I lose my phone. The telephone and email entries in MaxMobileLite work with the other applications on the phone. Clicking a number will dial that number, clicking an email will start an email message in the Windows Mobil email application.
It's coming up to midnight now. I've almost finished re-entering all the settings for the email accounts on the cell phone. It's time to call it a night on this CRM 10/MaxMobileLite project.
