Good Morning,

The message 'Database Server is not running' means exactly that, either the server that is supposed to be hosting your database is switched off or if the installation is only on your computer then the MS SQL Server is not running.

Have a look in Control Panel>>Administrative Tools>>Services and find the service called SQL Server (MAXIMIZER) and make sure it is started, also make sure the SQL Server Browser service is running.
Thank you for your response. I checked to see the MS SQL server is running and it is. I have a feeling the error I am receiving is something to do with the computer name which may have been changed. I have tried rechanging the computer name but it has no effect on the error message. I took the hard drive out of one laptop and used it in another.
Good Morning,

Yes if you have changed the name of the computer after you have installed the SQL Express Database Engine (the one your version of Maximizer runs on) then it will stop working.

When you install SQL the Database Engine records the computer name in various databases and locations.

If you rename the computer then these locations are not updated and the SQL Engine will no longer run.
I have a similar issue. I have two machines running Max 10. Nick1 and Ben1
The database and server are on Nick1. The system was installed by one of your guys remotely.

The motherboard on Nick1 failed yesterday. It was replaced and the machine now runs exactly as before.
Maximizer runs fine on Nick1 and sees the database.

Ben1 now has an error "Database server Nick1/maximizer is not running.
The name of Nick1 has not changed.

Any ideas for options and setting to check?
