Am trialling a new windows 2000 workstation Smile and am desperate to give a good impression of it so we can upgrade, and get away from NT4 but are having a few problems.

One of our main problems is that we have to use btrieve 6.15 due to our TAS books database Frown
Unfortunately were stuck with this

The problem basically arises when i log in as an administrator i can access a database fine, but when i log in as one of our underprivelidged users they cannot access anything due to this "error 20"

Basically the btrieve engine is not loading up and i have come to the conclusion that it must be some files which dont have permissions set.

Does anyone have a solution for this.

Have tried setting permissions on some files and in the registry.

Also tried the maximizer site knowledgebase and that didnt work.

Many thanks

And as a side note im not setting users as admins, coz there a dispicable lot round here Smile

Try adding them to the "Power Users" group. Microsoft created it as a way for legacy applications to run without giving all users full local Administrator privileges.

And given that Pervasive (and Maximizer) stopped supporting Btrieve 6.15 ages ago, your situation definitely falls under the "legacy" category. Cool
Maximizer installes perfectly on Windows 2000 clients under administrative rights. However, when logging on to the domain as a user, I am recieving an "Error Code 20" - "A RECORD MANAGER INACTIVE error occurred on the 'Record Manager' file. The BTRIEVE program must be loaded prior to loading this program." when starting Max. Adding the user as a member of "Power Users" fixes the error, and Max works perfectly, however in our environment, that is not an acceptable solution.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
