Error at end of install of Max 8.0

I installed Max 8.0 and encountered the error "This application has failed to start because w3scmv7.dll was not found. Re-installing may fix the problem" Then "w3dbsmgr.exe - unable to locate component" Upon restart. I get w3dbsmgr.exe error whenever I boot up the computer. I know it has to do with the pervasive engine but have not found a fix yet. Anyone have some suggestions please? I am running on a near new xp home sp2 laptop.
